The new Chinese donghua The Destiny Ruler (aka 天命大主宰) premieres on January 15th, 2025.
The cultivation donghua is being animated by Ruo Hong Culture, produced by Bilibili, and is currently just a one-season series that will feature 40 episodes.
That, of course, will likely change at a later date.
According to Bilibili, the Chinese anime’s plot goes something like this:
Great celebration for the divine land of China, where since ancient times, the forces of righteousness and evil have been in constant opposition. Many righteous sects have united to counter the rampaging Twelve Demonic Sects.
However, for the past few centuries, with the sudden outbreak of the demonic tide, the power of the Demon Sect has continually grown, forcing the righteous sects to retreat step by step, reaching a perilous moment of survival.
Li Wannian, an ordinary cultivator with modest abilities, is a low-ranking practitioner of the Righteous Sect’s Jinyi Sect. His life goal was simply to be inconsequential in the Jinyi Sect, while enjoying a steady salary.
But during a routine mission, when facing a life-and-death crisis, he suddenly discovered that he possessed the ability to resurrect on the spot, making him immortal. More importantly, each time he is resurrected, he gains points based on his performance during death, which can be used to improve his cultivation.
In other words, to enhance his cultivation, Li Wannian needs not only to die several times but also to die beautifully, die with purpose, die heroically, die with value, and die in a way that inspires and stirs people’s passions…
Young man, do you want to become the greatest martial artist in the world? Then… come, sacrifice yourself for a noble cause and die heroically!”
Yep, apparently we can expect a unique twist on the usual subject of immortality, and with it a lot of fun.
As of yet, there is no word on the Bilibili Donghua YouTube channel about The Destiny Ruler streaming there, but it should be showing up on Bilibili’s own streaming platform some time on or close to January 15th.
