Sweet ‘Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota’ stills released along with anime’s premiere date

An anime adaptation of the comedy romance Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota manga series was announced back in March to huge excitement from its fans, and today we finally got its scheduled premiere date — October 2025.
The anime’s official X account also released four stills from the anime, which show off the same lovely soft art style that was apparent in the trailer that came out in March (watch below).
Along with the stills they also commented that impatient fans can get a look at the anime’s first episode when it gets a sneak peek premiere at Anime Expo 2025 in Los Angeles, which kicks off on Thursday, July 3rd.
The four Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota stills have protagonist Kashiwada-san embarrassed when he sees Oota-kun, the girl he starts to realize he likes, while others show the two in a water fight with friends Sada-kun and Tadokoro-kun.

Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota production details
Based on the manga series written by Fuyu Azuma, the anime adaptation of the comedy romance is being directed by Tomohiro Kamitani (Katana Maidens: Tomoshibi), with the eternally prolific Michiko Yokote (Black Butler), in charge of series composition, and Naoto Nakamura (High School Fleet) both designing the characters and serving as Chief Animation Director.

The first volume of the Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota manga describes its funny plot like this:
Kashiwada-san is a middle school girl who never shows her feelings on her face no matter how much she is teased.
Oota-kun, who can’t help but tease her, shows all of his feelings on his face in return! They are complete opposites, but I’m sure they have feelings for each other…
