Spy x Sect donghua hits 50 million views only 8 weeks after it premieres – no surprise, it’s brilliant!

The ongoing Spy x Sect donghua has been airing since October 14th, so just eight weeks, and it has already surpassed 50 million views.
That news was released on the official Made by Bilibili X account earlier today, along with a celebratory visual (above), with the account offering “Congratulations” for such a big milestone.
The origin of those views was not specified, but it is likely to be a combination of both Chinese and international viewers as, since its release, Spy x Sect has grabbed a pretty large fan base outside China as well.
Including myself.
50 million views is also not bad for a 7-minute-per-episode donghua series animated by Suoyi Technology, the same people who created 100,000 Years of Qi Refining, and who designed Spy x Sect’s main character, Chen Ning, using the same character model for both series.
So much so, I did a double take when I watched their newest animated series’ first episode.
If you ignore that they used the same character model as ‘100,000 Years of QI Refining’ for ‘Spy x Sect’, the latest Suoyi Technology donghua is actually really fun.

But, while 100,000 Years of Qi Refining‘s Xu Yang is so incredibly powerful, a snap of his fingers will kill anyone including a god, Spy x Sect‘s protagonist Chen Ning arrives on the scene with hardly any power at all.
That quickly changes, though, as Chen Ning uses his devious mind to not only level his up his own powers, but also to help his many beautiful female sidekicks live their best lives as well.
All of which makes Spy x Sect‘s short episodes an incredibly fun watch, as well as a donghua I look forward to every new episodes release.
Spy x Sect details
Also known as Zongmen Li Chule Wo Dou Shi Wodi, the Spy x Sect animated series is animated by the previously mentioned Suoyi Technology, and produced by Bilibili.
It premiered on October 14th, 2024, with 48 episodes currently promised in the first season.
The donghua follows protagonist Chen Ning, an ultra-modern man who attacks the AI-system that is currently running his world and destroying it, but dies in the process.
When he realizes he has been reincarnated in a more traditional Chinese world, and has just been named as the new head of a powerful cultivation sect, he is worried.
Looking out across the crowd that has gathered to see their new leader, he suddenly realizes every single person in the sect is a Demon Sect spy sent to his sect to destroy it.
Yep, Chen Ning is apparently the only loyal member of his entire sect.
But, before he can panic, an AI-generated cutie with fluffy ears called Jiang Que pops up and informs him there is an AI system helping run this world instead.
But, in this case, an AI system that is offering Chen Ning various missions to fulfill and, every time he completes one, he gets to level up his powers while also being given some pretty cool things.

Especially if you love 100,000 Years of Qi Refining as much as I do, or just enjoy a donghua with a cool and very intelligent MC who always gets his way.
