It looks like we might just be about to get a beatdown in Rent-a-Girlfriend, Season 5 as a new visual has been released for the rom-com anime showing Chizuru and Mami confronting each other while Chizuru blushes furiously.
The tagline reads “Now, the defining moment has arrived”.
The first Rent-a-Girlfriend, Season 5 key visual was released via the anime’s X account this morning with the announcement the popular anime will be getting an April, 2026 premiere.
Of course, with things between Chizuru and Mami being strained since the first episode of Season 1, this showdown has been coming for quite a while, hasn’t it?
And I’m all in for it, aren’t you?
Meanwhile, we get to see Chizuru and Mami’s taste in bikinis.

Rent-a-Girlfriend, Season 5 production details
Honestly, not much information has been released about Rent-a-Girlfriend, Season 5, so far.
It is very likely the same staff who were involved in Season 4 (and previous seasons) will return. If so, they are:
- Animation Studio: TMS Entertainment
- Director: Kazuomi Koga (Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible)
- Series Composition: Mitsutaka Hirota (Dead Account)
- Character Designer: Kanna Hirayama (Oshi no Ko)
The main characters’ superb voice actors, who have appeared in all four previous seasons, are all also likely to return. As you will know, they are:
- Sora Amamiya who plays Chizuru Ichinose
- Shun Horie who voices Kazuya Kinoshita
- Aoi Yuki who plays Mami Nanami
- Rie Takahashi voicing Sumi Sakurasawa
- Nao Touyama who plays Ruka Sarashina
While the plot for Rent-a-Girlfriend, Season 5 has not officially been released either (readers of the hit manga will already know where the Chizuru/Mami confrontation is going), the Kodansha USA plot synopsis for the series, which is written and illustrated by Reiji Miyajima, goes like this:
You can rent a girlfriend, but can you buy love? Reeling from a bad breakup, Kazuya rents the beautiful, polite Chizuru for a date. But rock bottom might be so much lower than he thought! Chizuru is much more than the pretty face and sweet demeanor he thought he’d bargained for…
In today’s Japan, “rental” services can deliver an afternoon with a “friend,” a “parent,” even a fake girlfriend! After a staggering betrayal by his girlfriend, hapless freshman Kazuya gets just desperate enough to give it a try. But he quickly discovers how complicated it can be to “rent” an emotional connection, and his new “girlfriend,” who’s trying to keep her side hustle secret, will panic when she finds out her real life and Kazuya’s are intertwined in surprising ways!
Family, school, and life all start to go wrong, too… It’s sweet but naïve boy meets cute but ruthless girl.
We will keep you updated here at Baozi Buns as more information comes out about Rent-a-Girlfriend, Season 5. (Sorry, it’s a bit paltry at the moment).
Until then, enjoy the season’s first key visual. And don’t they both look cute in those bikinis?
