Rudo takes on Zodyl Typhon and the Raiders
With just three episodes of the second cour of it first season left to air, shounen anime Gachiakuta has released a wild-looking key visual featuring Rudo surrounded by several members of the Raiders, while leader of the Raiders Zodyl Typhon looks on.
If you have already watched Episode 21 (and how could you put it off if you haven’t as this is one of the best anime of the year?), you will know the latest Gachiakuta visual is from that episode as Rudo, Enjin and his other Cleaner friends try to destroy the core of the trash beast they are all trapped in before it flies up and over the border, and they die.
The last three episodes of the anime will likely follow that battle, as Rudo tries to stop Zodyl Typhon from enacting his warped plan.
Gachiakuta, Season 1
The anime itself has been one of the absolute joys of 2025.
Not only for its fun plot and crazy characters, but for its well-written story and its absolutely stunning art style. So many gorgeous scenes in every episode in fact, my screenshots file is enormous at this point.
The Gachiakuta anime adaptation is based on the manga of the same name, which is written and illustrated by Kei Urana. Surprising to me too, as the anime/manga has such a masculine feel to it, Kei Urana is actually a female mangaka.
She worked under Soul Eater mangaka Atsushi Ohkubo when he was creating Fire Force and, if you look closely, you can definitely see some of his influences in her superb work.
Her manga series is being published in English via Kodansha USA who has eight volumes of the currently 17 volume series already out, with its ninth volume due to hit in January, 2026.

The original Japanese edition of Gachiakuta describes its plot in this way:
Rudo lives in a slum where the descendants of criminals are gathered, picking up trash despite facing discrimination. But one day, he is framed for a crime he did not commit and thrown into the feared “Pit.”
In the Pit, Rudo meets Enjin, a “Cleaner,” and glimpses the truth of the world, manifesting the ability to give life to objects and draw out their power. All in the name of changing this “shitty world”!!
No matter how powerful the world is, Rudo decides he will not let others determine his own value. His enemies are “common sense,” “power,” and “discrimination and prejudice” – and now we have the start of an incredibly furious battle action!
The Gachiakuta anime series is being directed by Fumihiko Suganuma (episode director of Train to the End of the World) in his full directorial debut (and man, he has done an incredible job, hasn’t he?), with Hiroshi Seko (director of JUJUTSU KAISEN and Wind Breaker) in charge of series composition and scripts, and Satoshi Ishino (Godzilla: S.P.) both character designer and chief animation director.
Studio Bones (animators of My Hero Academia) is animating.
Enjoy the latest Gachiakuta key visual, and look out for Episode 22 of the shounen anime releasing on Sunday, December 7th as this season heads towards its close.
