With three more Saturday episodes to air, Moon River garners its highest ratings on that night yet
Now more than halfway through, Korean drama Moon River, Episode 8 had a bumper night last night, earning the MBC historical romance series the highest Saturday ratings of its run.
Not a bad feat when you consider the K-drama aired directly opposite the incredibly popular Taxi Driver 3, which broke into double digit ratings last night.
Moon River attracted enough viewers, however, to grab 5.4 percent of the audience nationwide, and 4.9 percent in Seoul, which is up slightly from its previous best Saturday performance last week.
Both numbers are also substantially higher than the 3.8 percent nationwide, and the 3.7 percent the drama earned in Seoul, for its first episode on November 7th.

Viki viewers continue to rate Moon River crazy high
While Moon River airs on MBC in South Korea, the K-drama is streaming via Viki internationally.
A platform where more than 2,300 viewers are currently awarding the drama a very high average of 9.6 out of 10.
Sure, those ratings are slightly overrated, but then Viki ratings always have been. But at least they beat those over on My Drama List (7.7) and on IMDB (7.8), both sites that are getting more and more unreliable due to ratings from trolls or so-called “anti-fans”.
Comments too are extremely upbeat about Moon River, both for the writing and performances of its leads. They range from one viewer loving the drama, but warning the first episodes are slow (I didn’t find them slow at all, though):
This is Kim Se Jeong’s first historical. I think she nailed it. She mentioned it being slow in the first few episodes. But I am hooked and laughing and crying since day one. The actors are like pieces of puzzles. They all fit exactly where they’re supposed to be. This is like a perfect bibimbap!!
to another loving the actual proper kisses, and not the fish lip pecks we often get from both Korean and Chinese dramas:
I’m loving the series so far and thank goodness we are getting nice kisses and not dead fish pecks. Great chemistry is developing between the leads and the acting all round is top notch. The story is developing nicely too. Our antagonist is so dark that he’s giving me chills. I hope the rest of the series is as good.
Moon River stars the Kang Tae Oh, and Kim Se Jeong, who are doing a phenomenal job with both the serious aspects of the series and the unexpected comedy that suddenly drops in.
The Korean drama’s next episode airs on Friday, December 5th.
Let’s hope it continues to climb then, as this one is definitely one of the more interesting and more well-written and acted K-drama’s of the current season, isn’t it?
