Luo Jin and Wang Zi Wen‘s 16-episode mini drama Beloved (目之所及) has finally gotten a premiere date and, as is usually the case with Chinese dramas once their release dates are announced, it’s dropping this week.
Beloved‘s premiere date of Thursday, August 28th was announced on iQIYI’s social media accounts this morning along with nine character visuals for all the mystery thriller’s main cast.
iQIYI also commented about the Chinese drama’s plot and cast:

Beloved is directed by Mao Kun Yu (The Lady in Butcher’s House), and is based on the web novel “Blind” (盲目) by Mu Yao Er Xun (慕遥而寻).
The C-drama will air on iQIYI as part of that platform’s iQIYI Light On series.

At the turn of the century, due to the water storage requirements of a hydraulic engineering project, a small riverside town was about to be submerged. The construction of a new town and the relocation of its population were underway in full swing.
In the summer of 2002, torrential rains poured over Dongjiang City. A bizarre murder case came into the police’s view: a dead lover, a husband who vanished and then reappeared — both “murderer” and “victim.”
Through the police’s relentless investigation, a long-buried past was finally unearthed. The complexity of human nature had blinded many, but the truth would never be drowned — wherever the eye can see, there is sunlight.
Personally, I am looking forward to this one.
After all, even though Luo Jin’s most recent crime drama Breaking the Shadows did not earn the strong international ratings I expected it to get (a crazy low 7.5 out of 10 on My Drama List, and an even stupider 6.2 from the trolls over at IMDB), Luo Jin did a brilliant job as missing detective Zhong Wei in it
