Love Your Enemy, Ep 1 premieres as lowest rated tvN drama in Sat/Sun slot for all of 2024 – does it matter?

New tvN series Love Your Enemy, Episode 1 premiered last night in South Korea to the lowest rating a drama has earned on that network’s Saturday/Sunday slot all year.
It is the eighth K-drama to air in that slot since Maestra: Strings of Truth premiered on January, 14th, and the lowest rated so far.
Those ratings, via Nielsen Korea, for Love Your Enemy, Episode 1 were 3.48 percent of the nationwide audience and 4.00 percent of viewers in Seoul.
They were lower than Maestra: Strings of Truth (4.19 percent/4.54 percent), Captivating the King (3.97 percent/4.07 percent), Queen of Tears (5.85 percent/6.49 percent), The Midnight Romance in Hagwon (5.16 percent/6.32 percent), The Auditors (3.51/3.37 percent), Love Next Door (4.89 percent/5.85 percent) and the recently-ended smash hit Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born (4.84 percent/5.67 percent).
What does this mean for Love Your Enemy going forward?
Honestly, not much.
After all, not only are these pretty decent ratings for a K-drama airing on a Saturday night, and with huge competition for viewers, they really have no bearing on what may happen next.
Instead, they are nothing more than an indicator of how many people were or were not interested in the cast, the plot and what kind of story the series will tell.
What is important are the ratings that come after it.
After viewers have told others if the K-drama is worth watching or not. After social media users and K-drama-focused websites have weighed in. And after those who watched it decide if they will watch more.
In other words, let’s see how the ratings fair for Love Your Enemy, Episode 2 when it airs later on tonight.

And for one impartial comment on Love Your Enemy after one, mine — I loved the first episode, the chemistry between the leads is excellent, and it was truly funny.
