Law and the City, Episode 6 aired last night to the Korean drama’s highest ratings yet, from both viewers in Seoul and nationwide.
Those ratings, via Nielsen Korea, were 6.11 percent nationwide versus the 5.38 percent the tvN drama earned for its previous episode, and 6.14 percent in Seoul, versus the 5.74 percent Episode 5 garnered.
Both are pretty solid ratings for a drama that premiered on July 5th to 4.61 percent nationwide and 4.78 percent in Seoul, and especially good as Law and the City begins its second half next Saturday.
International ratings for Law and the City depend on where you look
Unfortunately, it appears the trolls have taken over My Drama List (MDL) when it comes to the ratings for Law and the City and other dramas currently in production.
After all, you’d have to be deliberately attempting to destroy a drama’s ratings to think that dropping it from the already too-low 7.9 out of 10 it started out on to the 7.8 out of 10 it is currently earning is remotely accurate.
That troll presence in the MDL ratings is also particularly obvious when you read the comments from people actually watching Law and the City, as they are overwhelmingly positive.
Then again, like I always say, ignore the ratings on MDL, both good and bad, as due to a large troll contingency on the platform that is, unfortunately, rarely monitored, it is almost impossible to see accurate ratings there.
Especially as, over on Viki where Law and the City is streaming internationally, it is garnering a 9.4 out of 10 and, even on IMDB which also sometimes has a troll problem, the Korean drama is earning a decent 8.3 out of 10.
In other words, if you’re looking for accurate international ratings for Law and the City, presume an 8.3 out of 10 as being the minimum this so-far beautifully-acted and written K-drama deserves.
Law and the City is directed by Park Seung Woo (Kairos), and stars Lee Jong Suk, Moon Ga Young, Kang You Seok, Ryu Hye Young, and Im Seong Jae.
The first episode in its second half kicks off on tvN in South Korea on Saturday, July 26th at 21:20 (KST), with Viki streaming it around the same time.
