Yoon Jong Ho-directed drama main line-up released
South Korean actors Jung Jun Won (Resident Playbook) and Kong Hyo Jin (When the Stars Gossip) have now been confirmed as the leads in the upcoming MBC drama A Bona Fide Killer (aka 유부녀 킬러).
MBC announced their latest K-drama’s cast this morning, along with a projected second half of 2026 premiere.
The Korean drama is directed by Yoon Jong Ho (director of Lovely Runner), and written by Kim Eun Hee (Revenant).

What’s the Bona Fide Killer plot?
The South Korean action thriller follows Yu Bo Na (played by Kong Hyo Jin), a mother who has a secret identity — that of Kingfisher, an expert sniper and assassin whose job is to target and eliminate some of the world’s most dangerous criminals.
Bo Na has been married for five years, and has a four-year-old child but, after taking a three-year maternity leave, decides to return to active assassin duty. This leaves her struggling to juggle both her home life and that of her incredibly dangerous profession.
Meanwhile, Jung Jun Won plays the role of Bo Na’s husband, Kwon Tae Seong, a newspaper reporter and a man who is given an assignment by his boss to find out the identity of the assassin Kingfisher.
And that, of course, is where the trouble starts!
Kong Hyo Jin and Jung Jun Won’s careers up until now
The two South Korean actors have both been working in the entertainment industry for many years, although Kong Hyo Jin has a decade more experience in the K-drama world than Jung Jun Won as she began her acting career back in 2000 with a role in K-drama My Funk Family.
Since then, the now-45-year-old actress has starred in a slew of successful dramas, including the now-iconic Ruler of Your Own World, as well as Snowman, Thank You, The Greatest Love, It’s Okay, That’s Love, The Producers, Don’t Dare to Dream, When the Camellia Blooms, and this year’s When the Stars Gossip.
She has also appeared in almost 30 films, including the recent Hit-and-Run Squad and The Most Ordinary Romance.
Jung Jun Won grabs the #1 spot on June’s Actor Brand Reputation Rankings
The 37-year-old Jung Jon Won started his career a little later, with his first appearance in a K-drama in a supporting role in 2013’s Medical Top Team.
It wasn’t until 2025, however, when he accepted his first lead role in Resident Playbook.
The actor has also had a busy career in movies, appearing in Believer and Believer 2, Cheer Up Mr. Lee, Body Parts, and Escape just in the last few years.
This pairing for A Bonafide Killer should be an interesting one then. Especially as both actors are known for having superb chemistry with their co-stars.
