Jung Eun Chae replaces Park Ji Hyun as Season 2’s female lead
While it’s been pretty obvious for months that female lead Park Ji Hyun will not be returning to SBS drama Flex X Cop, Season 2 to play Lee Gang Hyeon, after the Korean actress announced her tight schedule would not allow it, we have been hearing rumors that Jung Eun Chae (The Guest) would take her place.
Those rumors have now been confirmed as true, with Jung Eun Chae being confirmed as the female lead in Flex X Cop, Season 2 by SBS themselves.
Male lead Ahn Bo Hyun will return to the action mystery comedy to reprise his role as Jin I Su, while Season 1 director Kim Jae Hong and screenwriter Kim Ba Da will also be back for the K-drama’s next season. Yay, eh?!?
The plot of Season 2 of Flex X Cop
Of course, the plot of Flex X Cop, Season 2 will be markedly different than it would have been had Park Ji Hyun returned to reprise her role.
This time it features Joo Hye Ra (played by Jung Eun Chae), who joins the Violent Crimes Unit 1 team as their new leader.
Not good news for Jin I Su (Ah Bo Hyun) who has bad memories of his recent time at the police academy being trained by ‘devil instructor’ Joo Hye Ra.

It becomes obviously quickly, though, that while Hye Ra might be hard-core in her work, she is also a former member of the National Police Agency’s Counter-Terrorism Unit, so definitely knows what she’s doing when she’s on the job.
Jung Eun Chae’s career up until now
Personally, while I loved Park Ji Hyun in Season 1, I have also been a big fan of Jung Eun Chae since she gave a spectacular performance as detective Gil Yeong in The Guest opposite Kim Jae Wook‘s priest and Kim Dong Wook‘s taxi driver. (A gripping drama, btw).
Jung Eun Chae has also given equally superb performances in other K-dramas like The King: Eternal Monarch, Anna, Pachinko and, most recently, in last year’s Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born.
She is also set to star in the all-female-led legal drama Honour in 2026.
So, that she will now be starring in Flex X Cop, Season 2 alongside Ahn Bo Hyun thrills me now end.
Flex X Cop, Season 2 is currently scheduled to premiere some time in 2026. Look out for it on SBS in South Korea (and likely on Disney+ like its first season).
