JTBC’s heartwarming fantasy drama Heavenly Ever After concluded its 12-episode run on Sunday, May 25th, 2025, achieving its highest-ever viewership ratings.
The final episode garnered a nationwide audience share of 8.34 percent, marking a significant peak for the series.
That was also a nice increase from Episode 11’s viewership of 7.01 percent on Saturday night.
Meanwhile, in Seoul, the Korean drama also grabbed an even higher 8.85 percent — up from Saturday night’s 7.09 percent.
The drama, which premiered on April 19th, 2025, captivated audiences with its unique premise: an elderly couple, Hae Suk (played by Kim Hye Ja ) and Nak Jun (Son Suk Ku), are reunited in the afterlife but, while Nak Jun has chosen to live as his younger self, Hae Suk chooses to arrive in heaven still in her 80s.
Why?
Because, before her husband died, he told her that her 80-year-old self was her “most beautiful” yet.
The series was lauded for its warm storytelling, exceptional performances by Kim Hye Ja and Son Suk Ku, and its imaginative portrayal of heaven.
The Korea Corporate Reputation Research Institute’s analysis of over 51 million data points also highlighted the drama’s strong presence across media, social platforms, and with fan engagement, with a remarkable 93.8% positivity rate.
Heavenly Ever After also performed incredibly well on Netflix, where it is still streaming internationally.
On that platform, it stayed on the Netflix Top 10 Non-English TV Shows chart for three weeks.
Congratulations to the director, writer, cast and crew for an absolutely wonderful K-drama, and for its subsequent success.
