I am a big fan of almost any series that features a main character that is over the age of 25.
Throw in that it’s a fantasy series, and I am there even more, which is why the first season of From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman was one of my faves of the Spring 2025 anime season.
Its Season 2 is also one of my most-anticipated of this summer and, from the new From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman, Season 2 trailer released today, it appears my intense anticipation is very well placed.
From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman, Season 2 gets full-length trailer
That new From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman, Season 2 trailer shows another season with a very cool Beryl and his students who, let’s face it, are often just as strong as him. If not stronger.
The animation and art style also look just as solid as those in Season 1.

The anime’s latest trailer, sadly, doesn’t feature English subtitles, and the auto-dubbed English language audio is horrendously bad, so you’ll have to figure out what’s happening by yourself (auto-generated subs help to some extent).
Season 2 was announced soon after its first season ended, with the action fantasy anime continuing on with its storyline of Master country bumpkin, Beryl Gardenant, now relocated to the capital city and teaching the elite knights (and some of his former students) to become even better fighters.

Meanwhile, Beryl is also the official guardian of former street kid Mewi, so he’s responsible for making sure she keeps up at the Magic Institute she is attending, while providing a safe and comfortable home for her.
We left Beryl after the final episode of Season 1, having defeated Rose the Sphenedyardvania spy and attended a royal banquet where King Gladio recognizes him as a ‘Master Swordsman’.
But, of course, Sphenedyardvania is still a threat and, from the trailer, it looks like there may be yet another infiltration of the capital city of Baltrain by magic beasts from that country.
We’ll see soon, as Season 2 of From Old Country Bumpkin… premieres in July.
