Celebratory visuals for Easygoing Territory Defense by the Optimistic Lord anime are by novel and manga artists
The Japanese light novel series Easygoing Territory Defense by the Optimistic Lord: Production Magic Turns a Nameless Village into the Strongest Fortified City (yep, another crazy long title) has been serialized then published in Japan since early 2020.
Its English language translation is also available via Seven Seas Entertainment, along with a manga adaptation.
And now, fans of a good isekai anime series will be thrilled to learn an Easygoing Territory Defense by the Optimistic Lord anime has finally been announced.
That announcement came via the manga/light novel’s official X account earlier today along with two celebratory visuals — one from light novel artist Kururi, and the second from manga illustrator Maro Aoiro.
An X account was also launched for the anime.
Easygoing Territory Defense by the Optimistic Lord light novel/manga details
As I mentioned previously, the upcoming fantasy isekai anime series is based on the light novels written by Sou Akaike and illustrated by Kururi, and the subsequent manga adaptation illustrated by Maro Aoiro.
Both the light novel and the manga have been extremely popular since the first chapters were serialized on the novel publishing site Shōsetsuka ni Narō in early 2020.
So much so, seven volumes of the light novel series have now been published in Japanese, and with four in English via Seven Seas Entertainment.
Volume 5 is also due to release in August.
The novel’s manga adaptation will also have six volumes out in Japanese when Volume 6 releases in August, with four in English and Volume 5 due out on July 1st.
In combination, the light novel and manga series have over 2 million copies out in circulation so far.
What is the Easygoing Territory Defense by the Optimistic Lord plot?
According to the first volume of the original Japanese light novel, the plot looks like this:
The fourth son of a ducal family, Van, was a boy hailed as a ‘prodigy’ by the age of two. But, due to bearing memories of a lonely past life, he treated everyone equally in this aristocratic world, while surrounded by smiles and warmth…
‘I’ll just enjoy this happy life to the fullest!’ Van dreamed.
Until everything changed at eight, when he awakened the ‘Production Magic’ ability. Branded a failure by his father, who believed offensive magic was supreme, in punishment he was exiled to a poor, nameless village on the frontier!
But, ever optimistic, Van decided —
‘I’ll turn this into the perfect place for me to live happily!’
Welcome to the laid-back fantasy of an exiled young noble building his ideal territory begins now!”
Unfortunately, no more details about the upcoming Easygoing Territory Defense by the Optimistic Lord anime have yet been released.
