Dynamite Kiss proves its second episode’s viewership drop was an aberration?
After seeing a substantial ratings drop for its second episode, Dynamite Kiss, Episode 3 is back on the upswing this week grabbing the K-drama’s highest ratings so far in both regions of South Korea on Wednesday night.
The latest data shows Dynamite Kiss, Episode 3 earning 5.3 percent of the nationwide rating, versus the much lower 4.0 percent the series garnered for its Episode 2.
The SBS drama performed even better with audiences in Seoul where it achieved a full 2.0 percent gain last night earning 5.6 percent of the viewership compared to Episode 2’s rating of 3.6 percent.
Those ratings also meant Dynamite Kiss was the 9th most-watched show of the day on Korean TV nationwide on Wednesday, and the 6th most-watched in Seoul.
Maybe proving the K-drama’s ratings drop for its second episode was just an aberration, right?

Dynamite Kiss‘s performance on Netflix
The Korean rom-com, which stars Jang Ki Yong (My Roommate is a Gumiho) and Ahn Eun Jin (My Dearest), premiered on Netflix worldwide on November 12th, and has already climbed to the #3 position on the streaming platform’s Top 10 Non-English TV Shows chart with only its first two episodes out.
That ranking was due to the first two episodes of the series being watched 6.1 million times for a total of 13.8 million hours viewed.
That very high “hours viewed” number, of course, means just about everyone who watched the first episode of the K-drama also went on to watch its second.
The only two non-English series beating Dynamite’s Kiss with their rankings then were Japan’s Last Samurai Standing at #2 and another South Korean drama, As You Stood By starring Jeon So Nee, Lee Yoo Mi, which hit the top spot for a first week.
The fourth episode of Dynamite’s Kiss airs on SBS TV in South Korea in just a few hours. Will both its ratings rise again, or fall like Episode 2’s viewership fell last Thursday?
Guess we will know more about that tomorrow, eh? (Update: Yep, Episode 4 earned even higher ratings than Episode 3).
