Dynamite Kiss is first Wednesday-Thursday drama on SBS this year
New SBS romantic comedy drama Dynamite Kiss, Episode 1 premiered last night to very solid ratings.
The latest data shows Dynamite Kiss earned 4.5 percent of the nationwide viewership, and a higher 4.9 percent from audiences in Seoul for its first episode.
Excellent ratings for the first Wednesday-Thursday drama to premiere on SBS this year. (Update: ratings that then just about collapsed for its second episode, especially from viewers in Seoul).

What is Dynamite Kiss?
The SBS drama is directed by Kim Jae Hyun (director of One Dollar Lawyer), and stars Jang Ki Yong (The Atypical Family) and Ahn Eun Jin (My Dearest), alongside Kim Mu Jun (Sorry Not Sorry) and Woo Da Vi (Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born).
The rom-com follows Kong Ji Hyeok (played by Jang Ki Yong), a chaebol who, after heading to Jeju Island in pursuit of an AI programmer who he is headhunting for his company, has a strange encounter with a woman (Ahn Eun Jin) who, it turns out, is the man’s ex-girlfriend.
Soon, he finds himself being kissed by the woman, Go Da Rim and, after believing his whole adult life that love is useless, is blown away by that kiss and, yep, is probably now in love.
Dynamite Kiss is a 14-episode drama that, currently at least, is scheduled to run through December 25th, 2025.
So far, the Korean drama is getting mainly positive comments on a couple of the main drama-focused sites, with viewers gushing about the chemistry between the two leads, and is likely to do well.
For me, with so many dramas in my backlog, I dropped it after Episode 1 because, as much as I like Ahn Eun Jin, Dynamite Kiss doesn’t seem to be offering anything much different except the usual rom-com tropes.
But, hey, you may like it.
Update December 5th: Heading into its second half, Dynamite Kiss, Episode 8 has now grabbed the K-drama’s best ratings yet.
