Doona 7th most-watched non-English show on Netflix despite only streaming for 3 of the chart’s 7 days

Doona grabs the #7 spot on Netflix only three days after it released
As Korean dramas continue to perform incredibly well on Netflix, the latest K-drama to rank high on the streaming service’s latest “most-watched” list is Doona.
According to the new figures from Netflix Doona was the 7th most-watched non-English TV series on the platform for the week of October 16th to October 22nd, 2023.
A pretty superb result considering Doona only released on October 20th, which means the K-drama was only available to watch for 3 of the 7 days during which the ranking list was calculated.
Even so, during those three days, Doona was watched 2.8 million times, for a total of 19.8 million hours. Wow!
The K-drama was also in the Top 10 in 21 countries, including Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Hong Kong.
What is Doona about?
The 9-episode drama stars Bae Suzy as Lee Doo Na, a K-pop idol who at a difficult time in her career suddenly decides she is retiring from the music business and then moves into a college share house.
Along the way she meets Lee Won Jun (played by Yang Se Jong), a college student who has no idea she is a famous singer.
The drama follows the pair as they make crazy choices, and go through some incredibly difficult situations, while it explores the idea of friendship, love and how being in the entertainment world can mean being intensely adored by millions while also experiencing devastating loneliness and pain.
The drama is beautifully acted by both main leads, who have superb chemistry, and is masterfully directed by Lee Jeong Hyo (Crash Landing on You), who directs Bae Suzy and Yang Se Jong to give touching and quite endearing performances throughout all the mess.

My guess is, as popular as the K-drama has been in just its first few days, we will probably see it rising a lot higher up the Netflix most-watched Non-English TV series list when next week’s numbers come out.
