DKZ’s Jaechan to star in first historical drama Check In Hanyang as a man who hates injustice

South Korean singer and actor DKZ’s Jaechan (aka Park Jae Chan) is confirmed to star in his first ever historical drama — Check in Hanyang (titled 체크인 한양 in Hangul).
Korean news media reported Jaechan’s casting earlier today, with his agency Dongyo Entertainment confirming the actor will star in the upcoming Channel A soon after.
Other cast members already announced as main leads in Check in Hanyang are Kim Ji Eun, Bae in Hyuk and Jung Gun Joo.
Bae In Hyuk and Kim Ji Eun were confirmed as two of the drama’s four leads a couple of weeks ago.
What is the Check in Hanyang plot?
According to Channel A, Check in Hanyang is a turbulent romantic comedy sageuk that tells the story of a group of MZ youths from the Joseon Dynasty who move to Yongcheonro, the largest guest house in Joseon, which is said to be more colorful and wealthy than the king’s palace.
In the drama, Jaechan plays Goo Soo Ra, a young man from Hanyang’s MZ who can’t stand injustice.
While he is one of the most down-to-earth members of the new generation of Hanyang, he still dreams of freedom and justice for everyone. In an age where that rarely applies.
Not much else has been released about the Channel A historical drama yet, except that it is being produced by WeMad, who were also the producers of the hit MBC historical drama The Red Sleeve.
We also know that Check in Hanyang is currently set for a December, 2024 release.
Jaechan’s previous roles
The 22-year-old Korean singer/actor’s most recent performance was in the Boys’ Love drama Semantic Error as one of the drama’s two protagonists Chu Sang Woo. A drama for which he received very positive reviews from both fans and news media.
Jaechan has also appeared in main roles in the web dramas YouTuber Class, No Going Back Romance, and Can You Deliver Time?, but seems to have been waiting to find a main role in a major drama that really interests him.
It appears his upcoming lead role in Check in Hanyang, his first role in a major TV production, is just that project.
Meanwhile just to prove how busy the young Korean singer/actor is, the boy band DKZ, which Jae Chan is a member of, is releasing their mini second album ‘REBOOT‘ on April 12th.
