Cute ‘This Monster Wants to Eat Me’ visual features mermaid Shiori, Hinako and Miko eating Ehime Prefecture snacks

Supernatural Girls’ Love anime ‘This Monster Wants to Eat Me‘ has a new visual out today featuring all three main characters — Shiori, the mermaid who eats people, Hinako her future victim if Shiori can ever get over liking her, and Hinako’s friend, Miko.
The new visual shows the three girls outside on a sunny day enjoying snacks together, while Shiori and Miko smile, and Hinako looks a little stunned.
As you probably would be if you knew a mermaid wanted you for her lunch.
The latest This Monster Wants to Eat Me visual came out earlier today, along with information about the snacks the girls are eating.
The visual released shows Hinako holding a glass of mandarin orange juice, Shiori leaning against Hinako with a local specialty — sweet, fried taruto– and Hinako’s childhood friend, Miko, looking happy as she holds a tricolored dango, “Botchan dango,” which appears in Natsume Soseki’s novel “Botchan.”
The anime takes place in Japan’s Ehime Prefecture, so we can expect more of that region’s culture to be incorporated into its story. Yay!
If you happen to be heading to Ehime Prefecture in the near future, it appears the region is proud of being the location of This Monster Wants to Eat Me as they will also be installing life-size character panels in four locations in Ehime Prefecture from June 1st.

At Iyo City Hall in the Iyo City area, you can see Hinako in her uniform, at the Handmade Market Townhouse (The Machiya Market) you can see Miko in her uniform, at Futami Seaside Park “Roadside Station Futami” in the Kaminada area, there’s a life-saved character panel of Shiori in her uniform.
And at Dogo Yunomachi Jyugomangoku MASARU in Matsuyama city, you can see a panel of her in casual clothes
This Monster Wants to Eat Me production details
The upcoming anime series (aka Watashi wo Tabetai, Hitodenashi) is based on the manga by Sai Naekawa, which is currently being published in English by Yen Press.
Volume 4 was released today.
Yuusuke Suzuki (Duel Masters) is directing the anime, with Mitsutaka Hirota (Edens Zero) in charge of scripts and series composition, and Su Ikuyama (chief animation director for Oomuro-ke: Dear Sisters) designing the characters.

As for the This Monster Wants to Eat Me plot, it’s described like this:
“I’ve come to eat you.”
A mermaid girl named Shiori suddenly appears, and gently speaks to Hinako, a high school girl living alone in a seaside town, as she takes her hand.
She appears in search of Hinako, whose flesh and blood is particularly delicious and attracts youkai, with a plan to protect her until she matures and reaches her peak condition. She will then devour her whole being.
Faced with the prospect of an unjust death in the not-too-distant future, the thoughts swirl in Hinako’s heart… “This person can save me…”
This Monster Wants to Eat Me is scheduled for an October, 2025 premiere.
