C-drama My Drama Missy starring Wu Xuan Yi and Zhai Xiao Wen announced – here’s what we know so far

Chinese fantasy romance drama titled My Drama Missy has officially been announced as in production.
The announcement about the contemporary urban drama came earlier today via iQIYI’s Weibo account, with confirmation of the two leads, and a comment:

Life is like a play, the heart starts to perform. A healing journey is about to begin~
Starring: Wu Xuan Yi (@吴宣仪_Betty) and Zhai Xiao Wen (@翟潇闻) (no special order of appearance — sorted by first letter).
Production details for My Drama Missy (so far)
My Drama Missy is based on the popular novel “Xi Ju Nv Shen” (戏剧女神 — aka The Goddess of Drama) by Ming Yue Dang (明月珰).
The 30-episode Chinese drama is being co-produced by iQIYI and Stellar Gravity, with no word yet on the director or screenwriter.
As officially announced, the C-drama stars Wu Xuan Yi (Perfect Match) and Zhai Xiao Wen (Always Home).
That means it will be the third time the pair have acted in the same drama with both having main roles in the 2021 drama Sweet Teeth, as well as support roles in the recently-ended Love in Pavilion.
I’m all in for the reunion, aren’t you?
My Drama Missy should also be interesting roles for both Wu Xuan Yi and Zhai Xiao Wen, as her character is apparently a self-obsessed, quite vain, and commitment-avoiding, emotionally damaged young woman, while his appears to be one of those cold on the outside, but not so much when he reveals his true self.
Now that’s a pair that should be fun to watch!
The My Drama Missy plot
As for the My Drama Missy plot, it sounds a little bit A Dream Within a Dream-esque.
It follows actress Wu Mang Mang (Wu Xuan Yi) whose life revolves around fantasy, both in her professional life as a low-level theatre actress, and in her everyday life as, due to childhood trauma, she often escapes into a fantasy world.
And yep, she’s been in therapy for years, but it doesn’t really seem to be helping much.
Enter stage left Lu Sui (Zhai Xiao Wen), an aloof company president, who is dealing with his own psychological problems.
The pair meet, sparks fly (not in a good way), and then, regardless that both don’t want it, they can’t seem to stop themselves being brought together in all kinds of unlikely scenarios.
Heck, if I wasn’t already a big fan of both actors, I’d be intrigued by this one.
