C-drama Light of Dawn grabs 1 million pre-orders – celebratory poster of Zhang Ruo Yun and Ma Si Chun released

While we haven’t had a huge amount of promotional material for upcoming C-drama Light of Dawn (aka人之初), that doesn’t seem to have stopped it from earning over 1 million reservations — and without a premiere date announced so far.
That 1 million milestone was announced on Tencent Video’s social media accounts this morning with a poster of leads Zhang Ruo Yun and Ma Si Chun riding a motorbike on a deserted road.
The message that came with the C-drama’s latest poster said:
Seeking the truth of destiny, unraveling the mysteries of human nature, Gao Feng (played by Zhang Ruo Yun) and Wu Feifei (Ma Si Chun) will take you to explore the ultimate questions of life.
Who’s in the cast and what’s the Light of Dawn plot?
Other than the aforementioned Zhang Ruo Yun and Ma Si Chun, the Light of Dawn also features a solid cast that includes third main lead Wang Jing Chun, and supporting actors Tiffany Tang, Cheng Xiao, Zhang Ke Ying, and Xu Bai Hui.
The Chinese mystery thriller is directed by Li Lu (A Lifelong Journey), and with its plot looking something like this:
Orphan Gao Feng (Zhang Ruo Yun) is determined to find his birth parents, while wealthy heiress Wu Feifei (Ma Si Chun) navigates various crises within her company. Their lives seem unrelated.
One day, however, a car accident uncovers long-buried remains, which appear connected to Gao Feng’s mysterious past and conceal a secret Wu Feifei’s family needs to cover.
As the truth is gradually revealed, Gao Feng and Wu Feifei go from adversaries to allies, as they work together to search for clues and solve a grisly mystery.
While filming for the 18-episode Light of Dawn kicked off over 18 months ago, in May, 2024, and ended over a year ago in September of the same year, Tencent has yet to announce a premiere date.
Rumor does have it that the suspense thriller will drop some time in December, 2025 but, with fewer than eight days left of the year, it had better arrive fast, eh?
