Well, I am extremely happy to see the ratings come in for the series finale of the SBS drama Buried Hearts this morning. Aren’t you?
After all, not only did the Korean drama end up being the most-watched mini-series of the week, and the second most-watched show of the day on Saturday (behind weekend drama For Eagle Brothers), but it also ended its 16-episode run with all-time high ratings.
Ratings that hit very high numbers both nationwide and from audiences in Seoul.
The nationwide rating for the popular K-drama was a very high 15.4 percent of the viewership — which is an increase of a full 2.0 percent over its Friday episode.
Buried Hearts, Episode 16 ratings also saw a similar jump in Seoul, with the revenge drama grabbing an even higher 15.7 percent of the audience share.
That is up more than 2.0 percent from the 13.6 percent its Saturday episode earned. An episode, by the way, that was also the most-watched show on Korean TV for all of Friday.
Congratulations to the superb cast — Park Hyung Sik, Huh Joon Ho, Lee Hae Young, and Hong Hwa Yeon –, to writer Lee Myung Hee (Money Flower), to director Jin Chang Gyu (Military Prosecutor Doberman) and, of course, to the crew.
International ratings of Buried Hearts after series finale
As you would expect if you have been following the international ratings for Buried Hearts on Disney+, it ended its 16-episode run still in the Top 10 in Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan.
It was also the #1 show on Disney+ in Singapore.
Meanwhile, as you would also likely expect, the superb Korean drama has dropped from an 8.4 on My Drama List after Episode 15 to today’s 8.2 out of 10.
Again, a rating that’s too low but, from a substantial number of the folks over there who seem to struggle if a drama requires any level of thinking, honestly, what do you expect?
All 16 episodes of Buried Hearts are now streaming on Disney+.
As the crime thriller is one of the best out of South Korea this year so far, I recommend you watch it.
