Second Chance Romance wrapped filming over two years ago
Wallace Chung and Qin Lan’s new romance drama Second Chance Romance (aka 亦舞之城) has finally gotten a premiere date — November 27th on YOUKU — while, at the same time, the streaming service has just announced it has already earned over 1 million pre-orders on the platform.
And I say “finally”, as Second Chance Romance finished filming way back in August, 2023, had a few promotional pieces released over the next two years, but didn’t seem to be fitting in any release calendar.
Then, like always with so many C-dramas, YOUKU was suddenly announcing Second Chance Romance was premiering on their platform this week. About bloody time, eh?

What is the Second Chance Romance plot?
Now I’ve had my eye on this one for a while, as it was written by Brotherhood of Blades writer Chen Shu (who also penned A Writer’s Odyssey and The Hope), and is directed by Lighter & Princess director Liu Chu Chieh.
Now that’s a helluva good pairing right there, isn’t it?
Even before we get into the cast, which has Wallace Chung (Because of Love) and Qin Lan (Home About Us) as the main couple, with a supporting cast that includes Michelle Bai, Chen Jin, Lawrence Wong, and Li Jia Hao.
The Second Chance Romance plot also sounds as though we may get a heartfelt love story, with a (hopefully) happy ending:
Renowned ballet dancer Tan Siting (Qin Lan) returns to China after retiring from her illustrious career, only to unexpectedly reunite with her former lover, Feng Rui (Wallace Chung).
After overcoming numerous obstacles, they finally reunite. Years ago, a misunderstanding led to their heartbreaking breakup, ending their simple and sincere campus romance. Now, however, Feng Rui is a single father, and those misunderstandings in the past still complicate their reunion.
But, after their long separation, their once tranquil hearts are stirred again, unable to suppress their longing for each other. Feng Rui is moved by Tan Siting’s unwavering pursuit of her ballet dreams and her steadfast affection for him.
And, as usual, my only complaint is this one is a 30-episode romance drama, so the writing had better be exceptional so that it can satisfactorily pull me through that many episodes of relationship problems, right?

Look out for Second Chance Romance premiering its first episodes on YOUKU on Thursday. It’s a definitely check out for me. How about you?
Update: With six episodes of the C-drama out so far, Second Chance Romance has already exceeded 6,500 on YOUKU’s heat index.
