Ji Chang Wook and Son Ye Jin starring in K-drama Scandal? Yet another remake of Dangerous Liasons?

Various Korean entertainment news sources are reporting actors Ji Chang Wook and Son Ye Jin are currently in talks to star in upcoming K-drama Scandal (working title).
Unfortunately, the new Korean drama is yet another telling of the done-to-death Dangerous Liasons.
That French novel received an Oscar-winning film adaptation in 1988, followed by the film Valmont a year later, followed by the 1999 modern-day-telling film Cruel Intentions, followed by a Korean film Untold Scandal in 2003, followed by a Chinese version in 2012, followed by a Korean modern-day drama The Great Seducer in 2018, followed by a Starz TV series Dangerous Liasons in 2022 — and yes, there’s even a French play.
Well, you get my point.
And now we have yet another Korean version. This one historical in theme, and produced by Netflix. Yawn.

Meanwhile, neither Ji Chang Wook (Welcome to Samdalri) or Son Ye Jin (Crash Landing on You) have accepted roles in Scandal, with Ji Chang Wook’s agency Spring Company responding to news reports by saying “He has received a casting offer and is currently reviewing it).
A similar response was also forthcoming from Son Ye Jin’s agency MSteam Entertainment.
The Netflix version of Dangerous Liasons (are they running out of story ideas?) is being directed by Jung Ji Woo (Somebody) (couldn’t they have given him a more interesting production to direct?).
Scandal reportedly begins filming in March, 2025.
As you can likely tell, unless the script is markedly different than what has come before, regardless that this features two of Korea’s best actors, this one probably won’t be the most interesting drama to come out of South Korea next year.
