Pachinko, Season 2 hits Apple TV later this year – critically-acclaimed Kdrama continues

Remember the superb and critically-acclaimed Apple TV drama Pachinko (aka 파친코 ) that aired back in 2022 with eight episodes and then, after an announcement of a second season, just disappeared off the headlines.
Well now, it is officially back, with Korea’s Newsis reporting Apple TV has just announced Pachinko, Season 2 will begin streaming on that platform on August 23rd.
One episode a week will then be released (annoying!), with the 8-episode Korean historical melodrama running until October 11th.
The same main cast of Kim Min Ha, Youn Yuh Jung, Jin Ha, Lee Min Ho and Jung Eun Chae will be back, with the addition of Kim Sung Kyu in a supporting role.
Pachinko, Season 2 is once again written by Soo Hugh.
The K-drama’s first season was directed by both Kogonada (4 episodes) and Justin Chon (4 episodes).
The drama is based on a 2017 novel by Korean-American writer Lee Min Jin.
It tells the story of four generations of Korean immigrant families who are forced to leave their homeland during the Japanese colonial era.
Mark your calendars for August 23rd as, if its second season is as well-written, acted and filmed as Season 1, Pachinko, Season 2 will be one of the highlights of the latest Korean drama year.
