Jung Woo Sung #1 in December’s film actors brand reputation rankings – it’s been a BIG month for the actor!

It appears December, 2023 has been a superb month for South Korean actor Jung Woo Sung.
Not only is his current film 12.12: The Day the #1 movie of the year when it comes to the box office (more than 10 million moviegoers in Korea alone), and his drama Tell Me That You Love Me a big hit with viewers, but earlier this week the 50-year-old actor was also named in the #7 spot on December’s drama actor brand reputation ranking.
As if that wasn’t enough, the December film actors brand reputation rankings are also now out via the Korean Business Research Institute, and Jung Woo Sung is #1 on the list.
What are the Korean film actors brand reputation rankings and who compiles them?
The film actors brand reputation rankings are calculated every month in South Korea from a particular period the month before — in the case of the December rankings, from November 21st to December 21st, 2023.
Those rankings are compiled from analyzing consumer participation, media coverage, interaction and community awareness indexes of 50 movie actors — in other words, how popular a film actor is determines his or her name on the list.
In Jung Woo Sung’s case, he earned a score of 9,330,219, which is up over 300 percent from his score the previous month.
This, of course, is almost all due to the success of 12.12: The Day, the historical events-based film he is currently starring in, and one in which Jung Woo Sung’s performance is being as highly praised as that of the film itself.
As for other actors on the list, Jung Woo Sung beat out the following also-superbly-talented actors for the top spot — Kim Hye Soo (#2) who starred in Smugglers, Hwang Jung Min (#3) who also starred alongside Jung Woo Sung in 12.12: The Day, Go Youn Jung (#4) who had a supporting role in 2022’s Hunt, and Lee Byung Hun (#5) who starred in Concrete Utopia and The Match.
In other words, expect to see Jung Woo Sung popping up a lot more often in advertising, magazine spreads, TV appearances etc in South Korea. as his brand reputation ranking hits astounding heights.
And frankly, as a massive fan of the South Korean actor, I can’t say I have a problem with that. How about you?
