Yuuichi Nakamura joins Frieren cast as Sein – the priest who loves to drink, smoke and gamble

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, one of this year’s biggest anime hits, just got a cast addition announcement and, if you are a fan of Jujutsu Kaisen (and who the hell isn’t), you will be ecstatic at the voice actor that has been named.
That actor joining the Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End cast is the incredibly talented veteran voice actor Yuuichi Nakamura.
He of Jujutsu Kaisen fame (the voice of Satoru Gojou), as well as the hard-working (and constantly-working) voice actor who superbly portrays Andy in Undead Unluck, Max in Level 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero, Tatsuya in The Irregular at Magic High School, and Yuuich in World Trigger.
As well as Kyouya in Talentless Nana, Dazai in Bungo Stray Dogs, Hatori in Sekaiichi Hatsukoi, Hawks in My Hero Academia, Tsukasa Shishio in Dr. Stone and Gray Fullbuster in Fairy Tail to name just a few.
In Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Yuuichi Nakamura will be playing the role of the very interesting-sounding priest Sein.
He can be heard voicing the role from Episode 13, which is set to air on Friday, December 1st.
The announcement of Yuuichi Nakamura’s addition to the Frieren cast was made on the anime’s official website earlier today.
The website also included a nicely drawn illustration of Sein alongside Nakamura’s official headshot (see below).
In the announcement, Sein is described like this:
Sein is a priest who uses extremely advanced healing magic that can be called a natural talent, but his character likes drinking, smoking, and gambling.
Yep, interesting, right?!!
Meanwhile, the Frieren Wiki adds to Sein’s character traits with this description:
Sein has an easygoing personality and constantly sports a deadpan expression. He is very astute with human emotions. He is quick to understand relationship dynamics, and acts as a mediator and an adult figure to Frieren’s Party, often giving Stark and Fern advice to help facilitate their conciliation.
Sein lives his life with a lot of regret and guilt, from feeling like he needs to stay in the village for his brother’s sake, to not taking his childhood friend’s offer to go on an adventure. Since meeting Frieren, he has become more determined, and decides to not live with any more regret.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is currently streaming on Crunchyroll for much of the world in both dubbed and subbed versions, with 12 episodes of the planned 28 already released.
It has been one of the year’s top-rated anime since it premiered on September 29th with an extended first episode.
