Do You Like Brahms? director Jo Young Min’s new drama casts Yoo Yeon Seok and Seo Hyun Jin
South Korean actors Yoo Yeon Seok and Seo Hyun Jin are uniting in lead roles for the first time in nine years, after the pair last starred in the first season of Dr. Romantic alongside Han Seok Kyu in 2016. (They both also had guest roles in Dr. Romantic, Season 3).
This time, they are set to be the main leads in the upcoming MBC drama Liar (aka 라이어).
The Korean drama is being directed by Jo Young Min (director of Do You Like Brahms? and You and Everything Else).
The plot of new MBC drama Liar
The upcoming 12-episode psychological romance thriller follows modern dance teacher Kang Ji Seon (played by Seo Hyun Jin) who works at an arts middle school, and meets cardiac surgeon Min Jun Ho (Yoo Yeon Seok), the parent of one of her students.
While Ji Seon is single, Jun Ho is a widower, and has been raising his son alone since his wife died several years before.
After the two go on what is thought to be a perfect date, however, things take a strange turn as the pair have completely different stories about the date the day after.
Who is telling the truth, who is lying (if they are) and why?

Seo Hyun Jin and Yoo Yeon Seok’s careers since Dr. Romantic
Since the pair starred together in Dr. Romantic in 2016, Seo Hyun Jin has also appeared in lead roles in Temperature of Love (a truly awful drama, don’t waste your time!), The Beauty Inside, Black Dog, You Are My Spring, Why Her? and last year’s Netflix drama The Trunk.
Except for The Beauty Inside, however, while Seo Hyun Jin’s performances have been excellent, none of the dramas she has starred in have been particularly good.
The talented actress is starring in JTBC drama Love Me alongside Yoo Jae Myung, which releases on December 19th so, fingers crossed, that one is better.
Yoo Yeon Seok has been much luckier in his choice of roles, however, grabbing main leads in hit dramas like Mr. Sunshine, both seasons of Hospital Playlist, Narco Saints, A Bloody Lucky Day, and last year’s When the Phone Rings.
He has also had guest roles in the equally successful Resident Playbook and Tastefully Yours.
Meanwhile, with both of them already having proven they have awesome chemistry with their performances in Dr. Romantic, we should be pretty much guaranteed the same when Liar eventually premieres. So that’s something to look forward to, right?
