Korean drama Typhoon Family, Episode 1 aired last night to the highest ratings of any weekend drama on tvN this year.
That means the K-drama’s first ratings were higher than those for When the Stars Gossip, The Potato Lab, Resident Playbook, Our Unwritten Seoul, Law and the City and even for Bon Appétit, Your Majesty. Both nationwide, and from viewers in Seoul.
Those ratings for Typhoon Family, Episode 1 were 5.87 percent nationwide, and 5.73 percent in Seoul.
An excellent start for the Lee Jun Ho and Kim Min Ha-led drama, and one likely to be even better when its second episode drops tonight.
Typhoon Family‘s international ratings
Meanwhile, the tvN drama is earning a very solid 8.2 out of 10 from almost 200 international viewers using My Drama List (MDL).
An 8.2 is an extremely good rating from users of that site, especially for a first episode, and right away tends to prove the Korean drama is well-written, well-acted and well-directed, which is why it is being so nicely received.
To add to that, Typhoon Family has an even higher 8.7 out of 10 on IMDB.
Granted from only 59 users so far but, even so, an 8.7 after a first episode airs is an excellent rating for that site.
Typhoon Family is currently streaming on Netflix internationally, with one episode already out and the K-drama’s Episode 2 due to drop shortly.
Let’s see how its ratings fare then.
Update: The second episode of Typhoon Family grabbed even higher ratings on Sunday night – Yay! — Now at Episode 7, and Typhoon Family has just earned its highest Saturday ratings so far. And now at Episode 12, and it’s a SQUEAK away from double digits.
