The Winning Try Ep7 is #1 mini-series on Friday as it’s still loved by international fans

The superb Korean series The Winning Try, Episode 7 aired last night and, yet again, was the most-watched mini-drama on Friday.
According to Nielsen Korea, The Winning Try, Episode 7 earned 5.4 percent of the nationwide audience, compared to The Nice Guy‘s 2.0 percent, which also aired on Friday night.
In Seoul the drama, which headed into its second half last night, was also the #1 mini-drama of the night earning an even higher 5.7 percent compared to The Nice Guy‘s 1.61 percent.
The Winning Try rises in international ratings
According to Flix Patrol, The Winning Try is still in the Top 10 on Disney+ in five countries.
Interestingly, the Korean drama has also risen in the ratings on My Drama List (MDL) where it had been earning a very good score of 8.3 out of 10 since it began airing, and where that rating has now risen to an 8.4 calculated from the ratings of almost 1,000 viewers.
The Winning Try earns even higher Friday ratings for Episode 11
The K-drama is also still receiving overwhelmingly positive comments after Episode 7 aired, with the only negative comments from some viewers who are saying it doesn’t have enough scenes about rugby.
One viewer, however, responded to those ridiculous claims commenting:
Did you even watch the freaking show? YES IT’S ABOUT RUGBY, the entire sub plot revolves around it, like, tell me what side plot that drive them away from rugby?
Just because this show rarely shows the actual rugby match doesn’t mean it neglected the plot, they are just expanding it to give more layer and depth which they succeeded, it may have some issues but it’s never about “not about rugby.
Meanwhile, another viewer commented about the authenticity of the plot:
What’s great about the show is that it doesn’t glorify sudden talent upgrades that propel characters straight to the top like some sports anime do. Instead, it focuses on the stories and hardships of the rugby team members and a few standout members from the shooting team—most notably the two coaches. One is trying to make a comeback after losing his way and battling illness, while the other is pursuing his passion in a seemingly hopeless way.
The show also delves into issues like corruption and bribery within certain schools and sports federations. At the same time, it develops a well-balanced portrayal of the two coaches, showing how they care for each other with genuine gentleness.

Episode 8 of The Winning Try grabs the K-drama’s best ratings so far
It airs on SBS in South Korea every Friday and Saturday night, with Netflix streaming the Korean drama internationally.
