The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King anime delayed – here’s what we know (trailer)

If you’re a fan of the comedy romance manga The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King, and were looking forward to its anime adaptation, sadly, it appears it won’t be dropping in October as originally scheduled.
Instead, it was announced today via the official The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King X account, the anime will now not be premiering until April, 2026 — a full six months later than we expected.
The delay was also announced on the anime’s official website, with the comment it was being done to “further improve the quality” of the series.
Animation studio Jumondou (Villainess Level 99…) also commented their staff “will continue to do their utmost to ensure that this series is one that everyone will love for a long time to come”.
Good on ’em, eh?
And personally, I always say, if it means an anime will be much better in animation, art style and character design when it does eventually released, I’ll wait. Won’t you?
The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King production details
Takayuki Tanaka (episode director of Blue Lock) is directing, with Miya Asakawa (episode scriptwriter for the fabulous Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? IV) responsible for series composition.
The anime is based on the popular comedy manga series written and illustrated by Noriaki Kotoba.
Nine volumes are currently out in Japanese, with Seven Seas Entertainment publishing it in Junglish under the title The Barbarian’s Bride.
A trailer for the anime was released last month and, honestly, the animation and art style featured in it look solid to me, and the voice acting is excellent.
The plot sounds fun too. Right?

The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King plot
According to Crunchyroll, who will be streaming the fantasy anime series when it finally drops, the plot goes like this:
Serafina de Lavillant, the strongest female knight in the West, was sent to subjugate the barbaric tribes of the East. But when her mission fails spectacularly, she’s captured alive and imprisoned. Humiliated and dreading what horrific torture she’ll endure, she asks to be put to death.
To her surprise, rather than tearing her limb from limb, the tribe leader asks for her hand…in marriage!
Will Serafina face a cruel and abusive arranged marriage? Or will she discover that these tribes aren’t as barbaric as she was led to believe?
