The Matchmakers stills show off Rowoon’s comedic skills as new poster has Rowoon and Cho Yi Hyun in love (?)

“I did not fall in love with you” – New The Matchmakers poster suggests opposite is true
The upcoming Korean drama The Matchmakers got a new poster today featuring leads Rowoon and Cho Yi Hyun looking more than a little romantic together.
Of course, the image on the new The Matchmakers poster does not tell the whole story of the historical K-drama as the caption above the pair says “I did not fall in love with you”, meaning there is likely to be a lot of denying going on for quite a while in this one, eh?
And, even though Rowoon is smiling and his hand is on Cho Yi Hyun’s shoulder, and she looks similarly happy and at peace, we are still supposed to believe that.

What is The Matchmakers‘ plot about?
The new KBS2 drama tells the story of two people who recently lost their spouses — widower Shim Jung Woo (played by Rowoon), and widow Jung Soon Deok (Cho Yi Hyun) who somehow ally to seek eligible marriage partners for some of Joseon’s still-single-but-older men and women who cannot find the right partner.
Both are from prominent families — Jung Woo was the marriage partner of the princess, and Soon Deok’s husband was a member of the vice-premier’s family — so both work together to use their know-how and contacts to help others find the happiness they themselves could not.
Of course, working in such close proximity, feelings begin to stir. Feelings neither of them can admit due to their own circumstances in life.
Reasons to watch The Matchmakers
Expect this one to feature gorgeous cinematography, beautiful Joseon-style costumes (the attention to detail in KBS2 dramas is always superb), and excellent performances that touch all the feels from the two incredibly talented leads.
After all, both Rowoon and Cho Yi Hyun have given wonderful performances in historical dramas before. He in The King’s Affection and her in My Country: The New Age, so you can expect we will get the same in The Matchmakers.
New stills have also just been released from the drama showing Rowoon’s superb comedic talent, which seem to prove that. (see above)

In other words, I am not a historical drama buff at all, but this one is a must watch for me.
Look closely at the just-released The Matchmakers poster and stills above, and watch the recent The Matchmakers trailer, and you will hopefully see why.
The Matchmakers will begin airing on KBS2 in South Korea on October 30th at 21:45 p.m. (KST), with Viki streaming the drama for international viewers.
