Gong Jun, Zheng Ye Cheng, Riley Wang and Quan Yi Lun‘s new C-drama The Legend of Lu Xiaofeng has just kicked off its filming and, holy shizzle, this one it’s obvious to me this one is going to be an absolute banger.
The director and screenwriter alone make this a ‘must watch’ for me, as we have the fabulous Zhou Jing Tao (A Journey to Love and Love of Nirvana) directing, and Ren Zhuang Liu (Story of Kunning Palace and A Dream Within a Dream) in charge of the script.
A duo that, let’s face it, should be able to pull off something quite stunning.
The Legend of Lu Xiaofeng cast is incredible
But, as if that wasn’t good enough, Ye Gods, just look at the cast — the four I just mentioned as the main male leads are being joined by this ridiculously amazing supporting cast:
- Chang Long (Yummy Yummy Yummy)
- Li Qing (Pursuit of Jade)
- Joe Chen (Fight for Love)
- Qiu Xin Zhi (Dashing Youth)
- Zhang Lei (The Princess’s Gambit)
- He Zhong Hua (Unveil: Jadewind)

and a crazy long guest cast that includes some of the Chinese drama industry’s heaviest hitters, and some of my all-time favorite Chinese actors:
- Zhang Fan
- Lu Xing
- Ding Jia Wen
- Zhu Xu Dan
- Su Xiao Tong
- Jinna Fu
- Tong Meng Shi
- Maggie Huang
- Zhang Chao
- He Lan Dou
- Liu Meng Rui
- Han Cheng Yu
- Li Hong Yi
- Li Dong He
- Yang Xue
Yep, when it comes to cast lists, the producers of The Legend of Lu Xiaofeng have obviously spared no resources to pay for this group, eh?

The Gong Jun version is just one of a plethora of versions
The drama is based on the Gu Long novel The Legend of Lu Xiaofeng, and is being produced by Lemon Movies and Tencent Video, and will be streaming exclusively on Tencent Video and WeTV international.
The drama is one of a number of versions of the novel, with various versions already being released by Hong Kong, Taiwanese and Chinese production companies since 1976.

Baike Baidu describes its plot like this:
Amidst a flurry of unsolved cases in the martial arts world, the Wuwang Pavilion, a powerful organization that oversees the region, entrusts Lu Xiaofeng (Gong Jun) with the task of solving these bizarre cases, offering a miraculous cure for blindness as collateral.
Thus, Lu Xiaofeng, seeking to heal his best friend Hua Manlou’s (Quan Yi Lun) eyesight, accepts these strange cases and sets off.
From the exotic flower poison of Shuzhou to the Silver Hook Gambling House of Xuezhou, from the Six Plays Phantom of Lingzhou to the Whale Sea Mayfly of Quzhou, from the secluded island of the hermit of Lingzhou to the eerie inn amidst the yellow sands of Liangzhou, wherever Lu Xiaofeng goes, the cases grow increasingly bizarre, and the number of victims rises with each passing day.
However, he doesn’t give up.
Besides his brilliant mind and the “Lingxi Finger” technique, he also has many friends: Hua Manlou, with his keen senses, is his strongest assistant; Ximen Chuixue (Zheng Yecheng) is a master swordsman, his title of Sword God is well-deserved; Sikong Zhaixing (Li Qing) is a master thief and an expert in disguise; with Zhu Ting’s (Chang Long) ingenious inventions and the assistance of Yu Luosha (Wang Yi Lun), the leader of the Wan Gui Sheng Cult, Lu Xiaofeng and his friends join forces to solve seemingly impossible cases.
While maintaining peace in the region, they also thwart a long-brewing conspiracy in the martial arts world, protecting the weak and innocent, and safeguarding all living beings.
