The King’s Warden cast finalized – includes Park Ji Hoon, Yoo Hae Jin and Yoo Ji Tae

The Joseon Dynasty-based film The King’s Warden has had its main cast finalized this week by distributor Showbox, with Park Ji Hoon (Love Song for Illusion), Yoo Hae Jin (Exhuma) and Yoo Ji Tae (Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area) heading up the K-drama.
Other main cast members are Jeon Mi Do (Connection) and Kim Min (A Shop for Killers).
Lee Jun Hyuk and Park Ji Hwan will also be appearing in guest roles.
What is the plot of The Man Who Lives with the King?
The King’s Warden (aka 왕과 사는 남자 in Korean) is being directed by Jang Hang Joon (Rebound), and follows the sixth Joseon king, Danjong, whose uncle forced him to abdicate when he was just 15-years-old and then exiled him to Yeongwol.
Once there, he became King Emeritus of Joseon, while his 16-year-old wife was the Queen Dowager.
As you might expect, however, things did not go well for Danjong of Joseon as who, when still a teenager, would be able to overcome the political machinations of a scheming much older relative?
The upcoming film, however, tells the story of the village chief (played by Yoo Hae Jin) and the people in his village who attempt to protect their young exiled monarch against some terrible odds.
Park Ji Hoon plays Danjong of Joseon, in a tragic role that should challenge his already superb acting skills, while Yoo Ji Tae plays his uncle — King Sejo — a man who lusted for power but who, once king, became one of Korea’s most effective monarchs.
Jeon Mi Do is a lady in Danjong’s court, and Kim Min is the village chief’s son.
Not much more has been released about the upcoming film as yet, except to say it may be a while before The King’s Warde is released as filming does not start until some time in the first six months of 2025.
