The Darwin Incident’s non-credit opening and ending animations drop as Episode 1 premieres this week
Anime fans rejoice.
Just-premiered sci-fi anime The Darwin Incident has just dropped its non-credit opening and ending animation videos, and they’re already lighting up feeds across the fandom!
These highly polished versions strip away series credits to let the visuals, music, and emotive storytelling shine without distraction.
In other words, exactly what we love for re-watching and sharing on socials.
The pair of videos were released right after The Darwin Incident, Episode 1 premiered on steaming services, including on Amazon Prime in the U.S.
The Darwin Incident‘s OP and ED also showcased
In The Darwin Incident‘s non-credit opening animation, the opening theme song, “Make Me Wonder” by Official HIGE DANDism, bursts onto the scene with vibrant energy and punchy visuals that sync beautifully to the music.
This pairing sets a blazing tone, as it blends glimpses of the anime’s action, emotional character moments, and striking symbolic imagery that all hint at the deeper philosophical and ethical conflicts at the heart of the series. (And let’s face it, it’s likely to get darker as the series progresses).
And yes, as always, Official HIGE DANDism has released yet another addictive opening theme song with ‘Make Me Wonder‘.
So much so, the banger of a song was my most-liked element of the entire first episode.
Meanwhile, the ending animation, featuring “Turn It Up” by ako, brings a more reflective but equally captivating wind-down to the anime experience.
With softer visuals and music and more thoughtful pacing, the anime’s non-credit animation, which largely concentrates on Lucy, gives fans a look at quieter character moments while still maintaining the anime’s bold stylistic visuals.
What The Darwin Incident brings to the Winter 2026 anime season
For those who’ve just tuned in: The Darwin Incident isn’t just another adaptation. Instead, it’s one of the most talked-about new series of the Winter 2026 season.
Based on Shun Umezawa’s acclaimed manga (which has won awards and earned wide praise for its gripping, thoughtful storytelling), Episode 1 of the anime adaptation premiered this week.
The story centers on Charlie, a half-human, half-chimpanzee “Humanzee” raised by human parents, who steps into a world full of conflict, fear, and, yes, hope when he enters high school and forms his first real connection with classmate, Lucy.
What unfolds is a blend of social commentary, action, and emotional drama as extremist groups and ethical dilemmas kick off around him when all he wants to do is enjoy his new life at school.

Now, in all honesty, even if Charlie himself is cool, the subject matter of this just isn’t my thing.
Then throw in the anime is set in a western country and, as a massive Japanophile who partially watches anime to learn even more about my favorite culture, I have no interest in that either.
But if an anti-eco-terrorism sci-fi plot, and a pro-vegan, pro-animal rights social commentary is your thing, chances are you will enjoy The Darwin Incident immensely.
