Song Zu Er and Chen Xin Hai’s ‘Wish You All the Best’ begins filming – booting ceremony photos released

Song Zu Er and Chen Xin Hai‘s new historical romance Wish You All the Best has finally begun filming this week, over a year since we were first told it would be going into production.
The first information about Wish You All the Best we got was back in early September, 2023 when it was announced the drama was in the beginnings of production, and would begin filming some time in 2024.
Time then passed, and it is only now — July, 2025 — that Wish You All the Best has finally gotten its full cast, director, screenwriter and production crew.
The Chinese drama has now kicked off filming this week.
Of course, with up to 70% of Chinese dramas that are made never being released at all, that does not guarantee we will ever see Wish You All the Best premiere on our screens.
But at least we’re moving in the right direction, eh?
Especially as the now-fully named cast is excellent, while the C-drama’s co-directors also directed the superb historical detective franchise Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty. So we could get another similarly spectacular series with this one as well.

The Wish You All the Best plot goes like this:
Fuzhou’s Changle County is where the famed Three-Treasure Eunuch Sanbao musters and trains his fleet, waiting for the right winds to set sail on his voyages to the Western Seas. While the sea ban crippled trade elsewhere, Changle alone remains prosperous.
Yet, its coastal wealth also draws rampant pirate raids.
Pei You’an, a deputy commander of the Imperial Firearms Division, has come to procure cannons for the treasure ships when he is invited to join a coastal patrol.
Unexpectedly, they stumble upon a fierce naval battle—Japanese pirate ships attacking Chinese merchant vessels, including one owned by the family of Zhen Jia Fu, a talented firework (and artillery) craftswoman.
This encounter binds their fates together.
