It’s official.
Song Jia and Gao Wei Guang‘s new drama Blooming has begun filming today, with its line-up also announced and photos from its booting ceremony released.
The news of the C-drama’s filming was announced on Tencent Video’s Weibo account with the comment:

Blooming officially announced the start of filming today!
Tencent is quickly bringing you exclusive behind-the-scenes content from cast members Song Jia, Gao Wei Guang, Ren Bin, Zhang Yao, Li Guang Jie, Lin Xiao Jie, and Bai Ke.
While the cast may seem like a fresh combination, they are actually all familiar faces, making this lineup truly something to look forward to!
Additionally, Tencent noticed many nostalgic details in the setting for the drama, and give a thumbs-up to the crew’s dedication!
Like most Chinese dramas, the 36-episode Blooming will likely film for three to four months.
It is being directed by Cao Dun (The Litchi Road), and is written by Gong Xiang Dong.
The Blooming plot, which follows the life of what seems to be a very unlucky woman, goes like this:/
Chen Sanjiu (played by Song Jia) is born into poverty and has a resilient spirit. To change her destiny, she runs away from her impoverished village at twenty, sneaking onto a train heading south, only to be caught by Liang Zhi Cheng (Gao Wei Guang)
She later marries a peddler named Gao Dalin (Bai Ke), and together they run a firecracker workshop. A tragic explosion turns her into a widow. But she refuses to accept her fate. She brings her mother-in-law with her and remarries Zhou Jia Hui (Li Guang Jie), treating his two sons as her own.
After Zhou Jia Hui dies of alcoholism, a desperate Chen Sanjiu returns to making firecrackers. She quickly gains local fame as the “Firecracker Beauty,” but also draws the hostility of Huang Zi Li (Ren Bin), who has ulterior motives toward her.
