Scenes from Awajima’s Wakana Tabata character visual, first PV, cast and premiere date released

School-themed adolescent anime Scenes from Awajima has named two of its main cast members, released a character visual of Wakana Tabata and the anime’s first PV, and announced an April, 2026 premiere date.
Wakana Tabata’s character visual shows a demure looking girl wearing a school uniform, and looking off at something or someone to the side.
The visual was released on the anime’s X account with the comment:
The light and shadow of dreaming girls. Mangaka Takako Shimura draws a youth visual of a musical theater school.
while they also named Niina Nakabayashi as voicing Wakana, and You Taichi (Rudo in Gachiakuta) as playing Kinue Takehara.
Both voice actresses can also be heard in the first Scenes from Awajima PV, which you can watch at the bottom of this post.

The upcoming music anime is based on the popular manga series Scenes from Awajima (淡島百景, Awajima Hyakkei; (aka ‘One Hundred Views of Awajima‘) that is written and illustrated by Takako Shimura.
It is being directed by Morio Asaka (My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999), with Yasuhiro Nakanishi (A Star Brighter Than the Sun) in charge of series composition, and Kunihiko Hamada (Chihayafuru) designing the anime’s characters.
MADHOUSE (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End) is animating the series.
The first original Japanese volume of the manga series describes its plot like this:
Love, friendship, admiration, attachment, jealousy, fear… Precious feelings that cannot be put into words. A youth portrait series that vividly captures the hearts of girls attending opera school with dreams of standing on stage.
Girls from all over the country who dream of standing on stage gather at the Awajima Opera School training dormitory – commonly known as the “boarding house.”
Wakana enrolled with the dream of becoming a musical star. Kinue, the dorm director, continues to study, carrying the hopes of her best friend on her shoulders. Emi, a beautiful scholarship student who attracts the attention of those around her.
