Dad is a Hero, Mom is a Spirit, I’m a Reincarnator trailer makes Ellen look cute, but the anime is not for me

A new Dad is a Hero, Mom is a Spirit, I’m a Reincarnator trailer dropped today (watch below) via the isekai anime’s X account, along with the comment:
“My father is a hero, my mother is a spirit, and I, their daughter, am a reincarnator”.
That comment, by the way, is the actual title of the Japanese manga the anime is based on.
And yep, the young daughter in the upcoming reincarnation anime was Isekai-ed into becoming the daughter of two incredibly powerful beings.
From the trailer, you will also see she is incredibly cute.
That being said, even though I’m a massive fan of the Isekai genre, this one is not on my list of anime to watch when it drops in the Fall, 2025 anime season.
Not unless the anime has been massively changed from the manga it is adapted from, as I read the first couple of volumes and, despite the very pretty artwork, it really is a tragic mess.
The pacing is at break-neck speed, so much happens in a short time, but the plot isn’t properly explained, which means you have no idea what’s really going on, and all the characters — especially the main three — are incredibly unlikeable.
Throw in there is a ridiculous amount of reading in so many of the manga’s panels, and what I started out thinking was another fun Isekai to binge quickly became an annoying chore.
Of course, you may think differently. Especially if the anime is only loosely based on the original story. But that’s my take on the series.

The anime adaptation of the light novel and manga series by Matsuura, is being animated by J.C. Staff, and directed by Toshinori Fukushima (TAMAYOMI: The Baseball Girls).
Tokou Machida (The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord’s Army Was a Human) is in charge of both scripts and series composition, with Mina Oosawa (An Archdemon’s Dilemma: How to Love Your Elf Bride) designing its characters.
As for its plot, this pretty much covers it:
Well, I’m reborn! And my father was a former hero? And my mother is the queen of spirits! With my knowledge of my past life and my powers in this world, I will defend my family’s happiness!

The anime premieres in October, 2025.
Update: Yes, I did start watching Dad is a Hero, Mom is a Spirit, I’m a Reincarnator and, while it is nowhere near as bad as the novels, it’s still a bit of a mess plot-wise. Not the worst thing I’ve ever watched, but definitely not an Isekai anime I would rewatch.
