I must admit, this one flew underneath my radar until cast photos from the My Dear Brother booting ceremony dropped on iQIYI’s social media accounts yesterday.
But, yep, we have another Chinese time traveling drama to look forward to, this time to the Republican era, and this one looks particularly interesting as it stars Pan Yue Ming (Kunlun Tomb) and Hu Xian Xu (The Examination for Everyone) — actors who haven’t been popping up in dramas that much recently.

Unlike many Chinese dramas that announce their filming, this one also has an English title from the get-go. Yay!
My Dear Brother kicks off filming with booting ceremony photos also dropping
Anyway, My Dear Brother (titled 寻找李顺章 in Chinese – or Looking for Li Shunzhang) held its booting ceremony on October 25th in Hengdian, and filming is now underway.
Along with an absolute sheeyut ton of cast photos, iQIYI also named the drama’s director (Bai Shan, director of Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty), its screenwriter (Liang Zhenhua, writer of With Love with You), and cast, and gave us a blurb about its plot:

As for the plot of My Dear Brother, it appears iQIYI is keeping quite mum, as there has little information been released so far.
What they have said is this:
Post-2000s firefighter Li Chuan unexpectedly time-travels to Chongqing during the Republican era. Teaming up with Zhang Hongsheng, a seasoned figure from the underworld, they undergo life-and-death trials and a spiritual baptism, embarking on a half-century-spanning journey of discovery.
Anyway, the 24-episode My Dear Brother is now filming, and I’m sure we will be getting more information about it as that continues over the next two or three months.
We’ll let you know here at Baozi Buns when that drops.
Meanwhile, enjoy the slew of My Dear Brother cast photos. (And I’ve gotta say I love that graphic the cast is standing in front of, don’t you?!)
