With Lycoris Recoil ending up being one of Summer 2022’s most popular anime, it is not surprising fans are dying to know if/when there will be a Lycoris Recoil Season 2 on its way.
With this weekend’s news of a new Lycoris Recoil project then, some of that anticipation has dissipated a little bit.
Not entirely though as, according to an announcement on the action anime’s official Twitter account earlier today, we are not really any closer to knowing if it is Lycoris Recoil Season 2 on its way, a full-length movie or just an OVA.
All the announcement told us was “the story of the two of us isn’t finished yet”, along with a teaser video reminding us just how good the first season of the anime turned out to be.
Whether the upcoming new project is Season 2 or something else then, my guess it will definitely be Lycoris Recoil Season 2.
Come on, Chisato and Takina burrowed their way into our hearts so quickly and so deeply, and the first season became such a surprise hit, I highly doubt A-1 Pictures or the folks on the anime’s production committee will plump for just a movie.
Sure, we could get a movie and a Season 2 if we are lucky but, if I was betting, I would go for a second season first.
After all, there are still so many possibilities with both the story and the characters and, of course, the world they inhabit.
As soon as more news about the new Lycoris Recoil project is released then, we will update you.

Lycoris Recoil was directed by Shingo Adachi, with character design by Muru Imigi, and character design by Yumiko Yamamoto. A-1 Pictures was in charge of animation production.
