Korean news media is reporting Koo Kyo Hwan and Moon Ga Young may be the main leads in the upcoming remake of the Chinese film Us and Them.
That has not been confirmed, however, with Koo Kyo Hwan’s agency Namoo Actors simply giving the usual response — “He has received an offer and is currently reviewing it” — while Moon Ga Young’s agency has not yet responded to the media reports.
What is Us and Them?
The original Chinese film Us and Them was released in 2018 and stars Jing Bo Ran and Zhou Dong Yu.
The movie follows Jian Qing (played by Jing Bo Ran) and Fang Xiao Xiao (Zhou Dong Yu), who meet on a train, fall in love, separate and then reunite, as well as the choices they are both forced to make along the way.
The main characters in the Korean version of Us and Them are to be named Jeong Baek Yeon and Joo Dong Woo, and whether the story follows the original Chinese plot or just uses it as a base we will obviously learn when the film is released.
The director and screenwriter of the Korean film have not yet been announced either. We will update you as soon as they are.
Koo Kyo Hwan and Moon Ga Young’s most recent work
If Koo Kyo Hwan does decide to accept the Us and Them role, it will be one of several films he has starred in during just the last couple of years alone.
They include this year’s Netflix film Kill Boksoon and New Generation War: Reawakened Man, which has yet to be released, and last year’s short films Human Scent, Lee Hyo Ri, Replacement Driver Vlog and Love Villain, in which he played himself.
The year before, Koo Kyo Hwan also starred in the hit film Escape from Mogadishu and Leave the Door Open.
Us and Them will also be the third upcoming film the 41-year-old actor will star in during 2024, as he has already signed on to the main cast of both Escape and Finding the King.
Meanwhile, Moon Ga Young has not starred in a film since 2016’s Twenty Again, but has been very active in dramas like The Interest of Love, Link: Eat, Love, Kill, Sh**tting Stars, Recipe for Youth and True Beauty.
We will keep you posted as to if/when both or either Koo Kyo Hwan and Moon Ga Young are announced as officially cast in Us and Them.
