I, the Executioner passes 3 million admissions in 5 days – and now close to 4 million
Michelle Topham According to the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), the new crime thriller I, the Executioner has already passed 3 million admissions in just the first five days of its release.
This just two days after it hit 2 million admissions.
And now, 24 hours later, the Korean film is rapidly closing in on 4 million.
The official numbers via KOFIC show I, the Executioner has officially recorded 3,714,546 total admissions since the movie opened on Friday, September 13th (a lucky day for the film, eh?)
It is currently showing on 2,691 movie theater screens.
Again, I, the Executioner has also surpassed Exhuma, which took seven days to reach 3 million admissions when it was released earlier in the year.
Exhuma also went on to reach almost 12 million admissions by the middle of May, 2024, and is currently the highest grossing Korean film of 2024, followed in second place by The Roundup: Punishment and Jo Jung Suk’s Pilot.
It will be interesting to see then if I, the Executioner can surpass all three of those films.
Meanwhile, it is already the 4th highest-grossing Korean movie of 2024 already.
The cast have again released celebratory photographs, this time commemorating the film’s 3 million admissions. (see above)
They have probably also taken photos for their 4 million milestone (and beyond?), as that is definitely coming this week as well.
