The Company gets a December 17th premiere on Tencent and WeTV
Well, this Chinese drama suddenly popped up as premiering after we hadn’t had any news about it for quite a while. And I, for one, am thrilled.
The drama is The Company (aka 哑舍) starring Gao Wei Guang and Leon Leong (aka Liang Jing Kang), and it’s now set to drop on Tencent Video and WeTV on December 17th.
As someone who recently watched the donghua adaptation of the novel Ya She written by Xuan Se (also streaming on WeTV), and loved every episode, I could not be happier.

4 The Company stills and a poster drop
The announcement of The Company‘s premiere came with a group of stills, and a poster promoting the Chinese fantasy wuxia drama.
The stills feature the four leads – the previously mentioned Gao Wei Guang and Leon Leong along with female leads Zhang Miao Yi and Mao Xiao Hui.
As you’ll see from just those four stills, it’s immediately obvious some kind of time travel is involved as, while the two male leads are in modern dress, the two female leads are in period costumes.
Meanwhile, the poster has Gao Wei Guang as antique shop owner Bi Zhi, and Leon Leong as veterinarian Su Bei Lu enjoying a drink together, while in the background we can see scenes from some of the stories from the different time periods they will soon be involved in.

The plot of The Company
If you have already seen the superb Ya She donghua (Chinese anime), you will know what to expect when The Company premieres.
Although, with Ya She only being 12 episodes of around 24 minutes each, and The Company scheduled for 30 episodes that will run for 45 minutes, the drama’s plot is obviously quite a bit more involved.

You will love the wuxia drama’s plot, though, if you enjoy stories about the lives of people that didn’t turn out the way they wanted them to, only to be given a second chance through a visit to an antiques shop.

The official plot for The Company, which is directed by Zhao Qi Chen (Go East) goes like this:
Bi Zhi (played by Gao Wei Guang), an antique shop owner from the future, and Su Bei Lu (Liang Jing Kang), a veterinarian from the modern era, team up on a time-traveling journey to retrieve antiques.
The customs and traditions of different periods, and the ups and downs of their lives, are narrated through their interactions.
Along the way, they forge a friendship that transcends time and ultimately face their lives with optimism.
Although I think the plot synopsis for the Ya She donghua explains it much better:
In the bustling and noisy modern city, time silently accumulates. Those rare treasures from myths and legends, once lost in the river of time, are now here — in an antique shop called “YaShe”.
The shop owner, Gan Bizhi, possesses the ability to listen to ancient artifacts, helping them find their destined owners and fulfill their long-held wishes. He befriends a warm-hearted doctor, Su Bei Lu, and they become close friends. Only the owner knows that the doctor also harbors something extraordinary…
Enjoy The Company stills and cool poster, and look out for its first episodes on Tencent Video and WeTV on Wednesday, December 17th.
What with the cast and its source material, and the trailer (which makes the C-drama look spectacular — watch below) I would be very surprised if this one isn’t phenomenally good.
