One of my Top 3 absolute favorite Chinese donghua The Demon Hunter (aka Cang Yuan Tu) is releasing its Season 3 this week on Friday, March 13th, 2026.
That premiere date was announced today via YOUKU’s social media accounts along with a new poster of protagonist Meng Chuan and his girlfriend Qi Yue Liu, and a heads up that the donghua had earned 7 million reservations so far.
Yep, this one is not only one of my favorite donghua, but it’s also very very popular with millions of others — both Chinese and non-Chinese.
Along with the poster, YOUKU commented about the donghua’s 3rd season:
#The Demon Hunter Tops 7 Million Pre-bookings#
Brushing ink strokes of a youthful jianghu, answering the call of craftsmanship with fervent anticipation. The animated masterpiece “Cang Yuan Tu” Season 3, exclusively airing on Youku, has surpassed 7 million pre-bookings!
Starting March 13, every Friday at 10 AM (Beijing Time), only on Youku Anime – don’t miss out.

The Demon Hunter, Season 3 releasing just 7 months after Season 2 ended
And yes, Season 3 of the donghua is arriving a bit earlier than I expected considering the final episode of Season 2 (Episode 66) only aired on August 1st, 2025.
In other words, yet again it seems many Chinese animation studios are a lot faster than their Japanese anime counterparts getting out new seasons, aren’t they?
Check out YOUKU on March 13th for the first episode (episodes?) of The Demon Hunter, Season 3 to release. Gotta say I am massively excited, as the donghua’s second season was a phenomenally exciting ride.
And, if you haven’t watched the first two seasons yet (I cannot recommend this one enough!), all 70 episodes are streaming on YOUKU — the 66 episodes of the first two seasons, plus 4 special ones — for their VIP subscribers.
You can also watch them on YOUKU Animation’s YouTube channel for free.
