Arthur Chen and Wang Ying Lu’s When Destiny Brings the Demon had two new posters drop today, as the Chinese drama heads towards its premiere tomorrow (August 16th), and as YOUKU announced it has already exceeded 3 million reservations.
The first When Destiny Brings the Demon poster (above) has the two leads — Arthur Chen and Wang Ying Lu — front and center, while the three main supporting cast members stand behind them.

When Destiny Brings the Demon production details
The Chinese drama, which is based on the novel “Xiang Shi Zu Xian Shang Xian Yu” (向师祖献上咸鱼) by Fu Hua (扶华), is directed by Wen De Guang (The Legend of Heroes and Duel on Mount Hua: Nine Yin True Sutra).
It comprises 33 episodes of 45 minutes each, and is written by Jin Lu and Yan Wen.
When Destiny Brings the Demon also features a supporting cast that includes Wang Yi Ting, Gao Han, Wu Yu Heng, Wang Ya Jia, Qi Pei Xin, Zhao Shun Ran, Bao Jian Feng, and He Zhong Hua.
The When Destiny Brings the Demon plot goes like this:
“The drama follows Sima Jiao (played by Chen Fei Yu), the founding ancestor of the Gengchen Immortal Sect, who was sealed away in the mountains for five hundred years.
When he crosses paths with Liao Tingyan (played by Wang Ying Lu), a woman from the mortal world who accidentally enters the realm of cultivators, her carefree and ambitionless ‘lazy fish’ attitude unexpectedly tames his ruthless nature.
Under her influence, Sima Jiao gradually begins to walk the path of goodness, and she becomes the one who changes him.
As they journey through immortal sects, demon realms, and the mortal world, their feelings for each other grow, entwining them in a love-hate saga spanning three lifetimes. In the end, they choose to protect each other and bring peace to the three realms.
