A Mortal’s Journey English dub on its way this month – here’s everything we know about it

Well, this is exciting news for fans of English dubs who might want to try a Chinese donghua, but have only a handful to choose from right now.
A new YouTube channel called Yoy Animation is about to start exclusively streaming an English dub of the massively popular martial arts donghua A Mortal’s Journey (aka A Record of a Mortal’s Journey to Immortality or Fanren Xiu Xian Chuan).
According to their official X account, the first three episodes of that English dub will hit their YouTube channel on Saturday, November 30th, with two more episodes released weekly from then on.
So, not long to wait for dub fans either.

Yoy Animation also put out an official trailer of the A Mortal’s Journey English dub yesterday (watch below), and a poster (above).
And let me just say, even for me who is generally not an English dub fan as I think the original Chinese actors often do a better job, the quality of this is so good, I will likely watch the series myself.
As, yes, if the voice acting in the short trailer is anything to go by, what is already an exceptionally good donghua series in its original Chinese, could be an equally superb offering in English.
Plus, isn’t it nice for another donghua to get an English dub, thus potentially opening up series like this to a much wider global audience!

What is the plot of A Mortal’s Journey?
Finally, just in case you are not yet versed in the wonders that is A Mortal’s Journey (easily one of the best donghua released in the last few years, and a lovely long one with a well-written, complex plot and interesting characters), it is based on the popular online novel 凡人修仙传 by Wang Yu.
Wuxia World, who publishes the novel online, explains its plot like this:
A poor and ordinary boy from a village joins a minor sect in Jiang Hu and becomes an Unofficial Disciple by chance.
How will Han Li, a commoner by birth, establish a foothold for himself in in his sect? With his mediocre aptitude, he must successfully traverse the treacherous path of cultivation and avoid the notice of those who may do him harm.
This is a story of an ordinary mortal who, against all odds, clashes with devilish demons and ancient celestials in order to find his own path towards immortality.
