January 28th is the martial arts drama’s premiere date
The Chinese martial arts period drama The Blood of Youth: Quest of Heroic Hearts (aka 少年歌行之天下无双) is one of those that’s been hovering in the background for a while. Ever since it began filming last January, and then disappeared off the radar once filming had ended.
This week, however, The Blood of Youth: Quest of Heroic Hearts is back with a vengeance as YOUKU has now confirmed the C-drama will premiere on their platform on January 28th. Yay, eh!?!
That announcement came with a new and quite vibrant poster of the two male leads — Lin Ze Hui and Cai Zheng Jie — and a message from YOUKU:
Amidst the turbulent martial arts world, they journey together with swords in hand, using trust as their shield to overcome the mysteries ahead.
Lin Ze Hui and Cai Zheng Jie, with unwavering hearts and swords, will sweep away all obstacles and together write a legend of the martial arts world!

Production details and The Blood of Youth: Quest of Heroic Hearts plot
The Chinese historical adventure drama is helmed by director, screenwriter and actor Tian Tian (director of Dramatic Self-Help Strategy).
It’s currently listed as a 24 episode series, although that often has a tendency to change once a C-drama drops.
Slightly confusing is that, reportedly, this is not a new season or a side-story of The Blood of Youth franchise, but it is vaguely connected to that world, so fans of dramas Dashing Youth, The Blood of Youth, Blood River and Great Journey of Teenagers will probably have a blast watching this.
Be aware, though, it is not written by The Blood of Youth author Zhou Mu Nan, so don’t expect returning actors or characters as we’re not likely to be getting many or even any, for that matter.
YOUKU themselves describe the drama’s plot synopsis like this:
The legendary Tianzhan Sword returns, shaking the Jianghu.
Cold, aloof Wei Gui (played by Lin Ze Hui) sets out to uncover his past, and soon meets passionate Lei Ling Ze (Cai Zheng Jie) at a mountain temple.
Joined by the mysterious Ye Zhi Xin (Zeng Xue Yao) and storyteller Hua Xiao Hua, they hunt for the sword. But when Ye Zhi Xin is revealed as the hidden leader of a dark sect, their bond shatters.
Facing betrayal, loss, and chaos, Wei Gui and Lei Ling Ze unite their blades to cut through the conspiracy and defend justice.
Look out for the first episodes of The Blood of Youth: Quest of Heroic Hearts releasing on January 28th, and check out the trailer below.
As you’ll see, it also looks like this one comes with a fair amount of humor along with its fight scenes and adventure mode, and I’m all in for that. Aren’t you?
