It’s looking very much like upcoming Bai Lu and Cheng Lei‘s new fantasy romance drama Mo Li will be a big success. At least if its pre-orders are anything to go by.
Those Mo Li pre-orders have now exceeded 2 million, with the C-drama adding over 500,000 new pre-orders in just the last seven weeks.
Chinese streaming service Tencent Video dropped a poster celebrating its 2 million pre-orders yesterday, and referenced its plot in a message:
Thank you to all the Jasmine fans for your support and love!
In the tranquil desert, sparks of hope protect the heart; under the clear sky of the northern wilderness, we embrace each other and find peace through the years.
Likely to be many months before Mo Li premiere is announced
And no, with Mo Li only wrapping its filming in mid-October, we are nowhere near getting an announcement about its premiere.
Rumor in China, though, says we can likely expect to see the first episodes of Mo Li release some time in mid-2026.
With nothing confirmed by Tencent, though, and not likely to be confirmed any time soon, the only thing we have to look forward to is a long wait. Bah!
Mo Li cast, directors and screenwriter
Mo Li stars Bai Lu and Cheng Lei, with Cai Zheng Jie, Lin Mu Ran, Yang Shu Yi, and Feng Xue Ya in supporting roles.
It is directed by The Demon Hunter’s Romance directors Lam Yuk Fan and Leung Sing Kuen, and written by Xiao Xiang Dong Er who also wrote The Demon Hunter’s Romance.
So, yep, if you enjoyed The Demon Hunter’s Romance as much as I did, with the same three highly-talented people also responsible for Mo Li, and with the drama starring the superb Bai Lu and Cheng Lei, it should just be one of your most-anticipated dramas of 2026. Just like it is mine.
The character stills released from it so far also hint at the Chinese drama’s high quality.
Let’s keep an eye on Mo Li‘s pre-orders then, and see how high they can go in the next few months, eh?
