Cheng Lei and Wang Chu Ran’s How Dare You? grabs 1 million pre-orders – drops cute poster referencing iconic conversation

C-drama How Dare You? is the re-telling of the story from the donghua and novel
According to iQIYI, the historical mystery drama How Dare You? has currently earned over 1 million pre-orders.
The C-drama’s 1 million pre-orders milestone was announced this morning along with a cool poster featuring the two leads — Cheng Lei and Wang Chu Ran.
A poster that also includes the conversation donghua fans now consider as one of the most iconic in Donghualand — “How are you?”. “I’m fine, thank you. And you?”
Because, yes, the upcoming How Dare You? live action series is based on the web novel ‘This Is Ridiculous’ by Qi Ying Jun. The same novel that spawned the hit donghua (Chinese anime) How Dare You?
Along with the cute poster, iQIYI also gives fans a hint about the plot:
🥳 Yu Wan Yin (aka Wang Chu Ran) and Xia Hou Dan (Cheng Lei) remain silent, simply enjoying their hot pot. 🍲 After all, transmigrating into a villainous cannon fodder character, only they know the ups and downs, the sweet, sour, spicy, and savory experiences along the way.
The cast and production details for How Dare You?
The Chinese transmigration-themed drama is directed by Liu Hai Bo (Brocade Odyssey) and Wang Li (Loser Hero), and written by Jiang Li Hua (Break Through the Darkness).
It stars the previously mentioned Wang Chu Ran and Cheng Lei as two of the four main leads, with Tang Xiao Tian and Hu Yi Xuan finishing out the excellent main cast.
If you’ve already seen the superb donghua, you will know the plot.
If you haven’t, and you’re a fan of transmigration stories, you will love this one as it checks all the most important boxes, including not only having two characters transmigrating from the modern world, but actually a third one as well.
Here’s what that fun plot looks like:
Wang Cui Hua, a rookie in the workplace, unexpectedly finds herself in the plot of a transmigration novel, where she meets Zhang San, another transmigrator. One is a workplace novice struggling against fate, the other a powerful ruler who has been lying low for ten years, concealing his true identity and achievements.
These two, armed with knowledge of the plot, begin a series of schemes to survive. They prepare for a drought by cultivating drought-resistant crops, recruit talented individuals, stabilize the border regions, win over Xie Yong’er, and defeat Prince Duan.
Meanwhile, tests confirm that Xie Yong’er, the second female lead, is a transmigrator from an even lower dimension.
Just as victory seems within reach, however, Xiahou Dan (Zhang San) (played by Cheng Lei) suffers a relapse of his long-standing head ailment.
At this point, Yu Wanyin (Wang Cuihua) (played by Wang Chu Ran) realizes that the nameless stranger had long ago prophesied that only one of them could survive, and that Xiahou Dan’s failure to kill her earlier meant he missed his best chance to survive.
Now, Yu Wanyin makes the same choice: she wants Xiahou Dan to live.
We don’t as yet have a premiere date for How Dare You? but, as the Chinese drama wrapped up its filming back in April this year, chances are it should be on its way to iQIYI soon.
